Virtual Club Meeting with John Miksad – World BEYOND War
January 26 @ 19:00 - 20:00
John Miksad is a volunteer chapter coordinator for the non-profit organization, “World BEYOND War”. John is an Electrical Engineer by training and was a licensed professional engineer in New York. He worked for 33 years at Consolidated Edison of New York, retiring in 2014 as Senior Vice President of Electric Operations, the organization responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric distribution system in the 5 boroughs of NYC and Westchester County. The organization had about 4000 employees with a $1 billion capital budget and a $300 million operations budget. He was the Con Edison incident commander during just about all of the major emergency events from 2005-2014, including Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Twenty years of continuous war and its consequences have compelled him to take a stand against war. World BEYOND War is a global nonviolent movement to end the scourge of war and establish a just and sustainable peace. Learn more at worldbeyondwar.org.
John will discuss his transition from corporate executive to peace activist and why he believes every citizen who is concerned about safety and security, health and welfare, democracy, racism and bigotry, education, infrastructure, poverty, housing, and the environment needs to engage and work for the cause of peace.
